UCLA@UCDC: Move your career forward in Washington, D.C.

Each year since 1966, the UCDC Summer in Washington Program has supported a cohort of motivated Bruins as they build skills and explore career options through a ten-week summer internship in Washington, DC.  UCLA undergraduates from all majors serve in full-time and part-time internships with a wide range of government, non-profit, and private sector employers based in the Metro DC area.  Since its launch as a student-led initiative, this UCLA Career Center program has opened the door to a meaningful work experience for over 3,000 Bruins. Our team welcomes you to connect, learn more, and start exploring your summer internship options!

Applying to UCDC for Summer 2020

The UCDC Summer in Washington Program is open to all UCLA undergraduates who have maintained good academic standing (an overall GPA above 2.0). Each candidate who meets these basic requirements receives provisional acceptance upon application to the UCDC program.

The UCLA-UCDC program supports two intern cohorts:

  • UCDC Resident Interns are Bruins who wish to share an economy apartment at the UC Washington Center and who wish to earn a need-based housing scholarship. The application deadline for UCDC Resident Interns is January 20, 2020.

  • UCDC Independent Interns make their own housing arrangements and may apply flexibly. Bruins can apply to or join both cohorts based on their preferences, financial needs, and internship start/end dates. Please see cohort descriptions and application links on the "How Do I Get Started" page.
The UCLA-UCDC Program is Non-Competitive

The UCLA-UCDC application is non-competitive and serves as the starting point for preparing your internship applications. You will not be competing with fellow Bruins for admission to the UCDC program. This inclusive application process is intended to focus your time on applying and interviewing for highly competitive DC internships which may have very early deadlines.

Our Career Center Team believes that every Bruin can find a relevant internship experience in the nation’s capital. With this in mind, we invest our time in helping you update your resume, connect with employers, and make your best summer internship decision.  The earlier you apply, the sooner you can start submitting applications and connecting with DC employers.
