Career Counseling

 

DROP-IN COUNSELING (CAREER CENTER, SECOND FLOOR)

 

The UCLA Career Center provides Drop-In Counseling for undergraduate and graduate students throughout the year (see below for the latest schedules). It's a great opportunity to meet one-on-one with a career counselor without a prior appointment, and is the first step in the career counseling process.

 

Drop-In sessions last approximately 15 minutes, are on a first-come-first-served basis (you must sign up in person).  They are designed to address your immediate questions and needs, such as:

  • Career Center orientation
  • Career exploration and job and internship search resources
  • Resume and cover letter critiques
  • Graduate school and pre-professional guidance, and
  • Referrals to appropriate Career Center and campus services.

 

Please be aware that the 4:00 ending time means counseling will stop at this time.  Therefore, at busy times in the late afternoon, the queue for Drop-ins may become impacted and the intake system will close prior to 4:00, so that all the students who have already signed in can be served within the stated period. 

 

Drop-In Counseling Schedule

 

Standard Drop-in Counseling (Career Center, 2nd Floor): M–F, 10am to 4pm*


Exceptions

 

November

  • Wednesday, November 11 - University Closed, Veterans Day
  • Friday, November 13 - Drop-Ins suspended  (Allied Health Mock Interviews)
  • Tuesday, November 17 - Drop-Ins conducted 11am - 4pm
  • Thursday, November 19 - Drop-Ins suspended
  • Wednesday, November 25 - Drop-Ins conducted 10 am - 1 pm
  • Thursday & Friday, November 26 & 27 - University Closed, Thanksgiving Holiday

 

December & January

  • Tuesday, December 15 - Drop-Ins conducted 11am - 4pm 
  • Monday, December 21 through Friday, January 1 - University Closed (holidays and furlough days)

 

Specialty Drop-In Counseling Schedules:

*Interested students are invited to visit the Career Center for a specialized 15-minute drop-in appointment with the Economics Career Specialist:

Monday thru Friday: 10am-12pm
Mondays and Thursdays: 2pm-4pm

Tuesday, November 17 - Drop-ins conducted from 11-12 only

APPOINTMENT COUNSELING   

 

These 50-minute appointments with a UCLA Career Counselor provide in-depth counseling, and are geared toward issues of career and educational assessment, exploration, decision-making, and strategy.  (Note: you are encouraged to first attend a drop-in counseling session prior to scheduling a counseling appointment. This ensures that your specific needs will be addressed in a more timely manner.)

 

 

NEW!!!  Appointment Counseling sessions (50-minute) are visible and to be scheduled through BruinView™.  (Note:  You will see two weeks appointments at a time.  The appointments are updated daily).  Please make sure to register for BruinView™ so that you can secure an appointment! Use BruinView™ to schedule your first appointment. You may contact your Career Counselor directly to schedule any follow-up appointments.
